Princess Ka'iulani's Portrait Limited Edition Prints

Painted digitally on iPad with Procreate by Turkish-American artist Ezgi Iraz, this fine art print is a quiet, respectful homage to Crown Princess Victoria Kaʻiulani, the last heir apparent to the Hawaiian throne.

Working from a historic archival photograph, Iraz approaches the portrait from the perspective of an immigrant viewer living in the islands—listening to local history rather than trying to rewrite it. This artwork invites us to remember her true historical weight as a brilliant, courageous political leader. Look closely at her eyes, where a subtle reflection of the Hawaiian flag (Ka Hae Hawaiʻi) honors her fierce, active fight for her nation's sovereignty following the 1893 illegal overthrow. At just 17 years old, Kaʻiulani traveled across the Atlantic to confront the American press and directly petition the U.S. government for her people’s right to self-governance.
